Our rates are all-inclusive. Your pet will enjoy walks, playtime, food, medications, afternoon snacks and bedtime treats included with their stay!

What are your drop off and pick up procedures?

What's different about RK Pet Ranch?

RK Pet Ranch is a family-owned business, run by animal lovers who live onsite. We understand your pet is part of your family, and we want them to feel loved and comfortable while they are here. We also want them to have fun! With daily walks, play time, fetch, seasonal water and snow play, enrichment toys and lots of pats and treats, it's no surprise that many of our return guests get very excited when their owners turn onto our driveway.

The recent affiliation with Fear Free Pets has improved the experience for owners, guests and staff. Our goal is to minimize fear, anxiety and stress in pets. We will continue to assess the needs of our guests and adapt our facility to meet this goal.

Finally, our location sets us apart! We are 15 minutes from world-class skiing and the best mountain town ever! Steamboat Ski Resort is within site of our 18-acre ranch, which sits in a lush and beautiful valley. All dogs should be so lucky to enjoy these views! A true vacation!

Can dogs play all day?

Free-roam and "cage free" daycares are currently popular. An all-day free for all, especially if it is overcrowded, can easily overstimulate and even frustrate a sensitive dog. Consistent or even short-term overstimulation can lead to a variety of anxiety and behavioral problems even aggression. The number one measure of a good doggie daycare is almost always how tired a dog is at the end of the day, which is definitely a good measure to consider. However also considering the source of the dog's fatigue is important. Being anxious and uncomfortable all day is exhausting and can be even more so than proper stimulation and play.

The ability to socialize with as many dogs as possible and maximum freedom to move around throughout the day may seem more attractive to us as humans. Research shows a moderate amount of group play with two to five dogs several times a day along with plenty of rest in a cozy private suite is not only much safer but also more comfortable. Supplementing the group play sessions with long walks and individual one-on-one human attention, creates a perfect balanced day for your pet and leaves them feeling appropriately tired, satisfied and happy at the end of the day.

Will someone be with my pet all day?

Our staff works on two daily shifts. Each shift allows dogs potty breaks, walks, play time, feeding and caring attention. We are closed midday for lunch/nap time. During this time and overnight, dogs are safe and secure in their private kennels. While staff isn't in the kennel 24/7, the owners and manager live on site, so the property is well supervised to ensure your pets' safety.
